Waterloo City Hall

The City of Waterloo generally does a good job maintaining public infrastructure, but there are areas that need attention. Specifically, potholes on Weber Street and many other streets have been left unrepaired for an extended period, causing inconvenience and potential hazards for drivers and can cause accidents. Given that the City owns multiple equipment units like snow plows, salters, and hot boxes for pothole repairs, and has full access to trained city staff, timely maintenance should be more consistent. Additionally, sidewalks and roads need to be cleared of snow more promptly to ensure safe passage for pedestrians and drivers during the winter months. With the resources available, we hope to see improvements in these areas to maintain the high standards the City is known for.

I had a small city hall wedding last week here, and it was lovely. Very simple, but still felt very sweet. Samantha was great in answering all my questions and officiating the ceremony. We had the ceremony in the main council chambers and it was very bright and warm. It probably isn't for everyone, but for us it was absolutely perfect. Also a shout out to the security guard! I didn't catch his name but he was absolutely amazing. He deserves a raise! He basically acted not only as security, but as the face of city hall and host. He made everyone feel very welcome. He was very personable, and even gave some toys to my niece and nephew - they were over the moon :) Super happy with how the day went! Only annoying thing - I don't understand why they've reserved 2/3rd of the parking lot for staff/reserved parking, when no one is using it. Both times we went to visit the hall half the lot was vacant, while the visitor parking was almost completely full. They need to open up some of those reserved spots for visitors. There's nowhere near enough parking.

Any private parking enforcement agency that has hired Conestoga college students can send any nonsense ticket to the parking enforcement here and they will hold your license hostage until you pay. No ticket put on the car - No picture proof of being in the area - no nothing. Great to see my property taxes are being used against me

Monday April 25th. 2022 My 1st. Visit to the City Hall. Really impressed with the well organized and professionally setup. Nice and clean, still following lots of COVID19 protocols. Building Division is located on the 2nd. Floor. Very professionally and with courtesy handled my requirements. Looking forward to visit again for sure. Keep up the good work 👏

The parking bylaws are ridiculous! I registered for overnight parking, but still got a ticket!!! The dispute process is hell and it doesn’t matter how much you appeal. They deny it- i also got a no appearance fee even though i never received and court date? Worst city ever when it comes to these things

What a disappointing volunteering from the so-called "Art, Culture, events team". They will check your full background (looks like the best work on earth) for 7/8 hours of volunteer work but at the end, they will provide $5 gift card (use in uptown Waterloo), what's a joke? We didn't ask for anything. If the same thing happens in a 3rd world country then we all will say "Child Abuse".

Great city service center with one of the best marriage services. Everyone is friendly and the place is really wel kept.

Free parking in the sunshine was a great start to our morning at the WCH. Welcoming staff guided us where to go, office staff were nice, informative and efficient. Great 30mins.
