A terrible experience - I called and was asking for information on selling estate contents through Sotheby's. The customer service was too low to rate on this star level. A generic response to send photos, dimensions, and how we obtained these items to a general email address was suggested. I explained that there were hundreds of items and that they were bought through notable auction houses. We were hoping to have someone come into assess. I requested to speak to someone else - the phone was sent to a general voice mailbox after several of minutes hearing chatter in the background. We can't tell you how disappointing this interaction with Sotheby's has been. The Sotheby's that we know is clearly no longer a reputable company.

Can’t Understand why people wasting their money on the product that they can find in market for %99 less what u see here at all Sotheby’s!!!! These people last week sold a $10 k Ferrari last for over 5million dollars!!! What is going on really!!!! You can make 1000 lives around the world with that much money, stupid auction with high as 27% fee on top of your product you purchase not make sense

Sotheby's has always been very professional and courteous. I have had the pleasure of dealing with them for over a decade now. The office in Toronto has always been very professional and helpful. Much better experiences than with any of the other Toronto or Canadian auction houses. Of course you actually need items that would qualify for the most prestigious auction house in the world's venue. I would imagine the people that did not have good experiences likely had items that in no way qualified, and when they receive massive amounts of inquiries I am sure it's very hard to satisfy everyone. But if you do have the right items or collection there is no better place to deal with. Selling in USD or GBP funds also makes a Big difference as well!

I had a negative experience with Sotheby’s Canada as well. My father bought a watch from them and an antique painting. Many years later when I took the items back to put in auction, they wouldn’t accept them. They said the items weren’t good enough to be sold at Sotheby’s. I told them they were both purchased at the same Sotheby’s in Toronto. They gave some weak excuse that I don’t recall but left thinking what a scam.

When you want rare. Not a lot of options. Could definitely have better customer service as it is a important part of your business but overall had a good experience. A little dry not so fun. If there’s something rare I need I will be back.

Forget about trying to ask simple questions. Whoever answered the phone was absolutely impossible to deal with. I had 3 simple questions to have answered, so I wouldn't waste their time or mine. Calling them was wasting my time. I heard they were very SNOBBISH, after calling I would have to agree.đŸ€Ź

Since when does Sotheby's not auction diamonds? They won't be getting another request from me.
