RECO states they protect consumers in the public interest by promoting a safe and informed marketplace and administering the rules that real estate agents and brokerages must follow. This is far from what actually happens when you reach their compliance department.

I had a simple question about the broker of record name listed on a BRA versus a cancellation form of the BRA essentially questioning its legitimacy. There should be a concise rule when it comes to this that seems to be obvious but I wanted to hear from the real estate regulators of Ontario themselves. They simply replied back saying "RECO is unable to comment on the validity or enforceability of contractual agreements."

Why does this group exist if they cannot answer a simple question like this? It seems pretty black or white what the answer here should be. Instead, they want me to seek legal advice. I am very confused what their purpose here is then.

What is the point of RECO exactly if they are not ensuring the marketplace is safe for consumers from predatory real estate brokers who might pounce on technicalities on forms that RECO again should oversee.

On the phone, the one agent I spoke to was amazing and she guided me on what next steps I can take. I hope everyone gets lucky and at least gets some representative who was as caring and understanding as her. She is the only reason I'd give this a 2 star rating.

The most unprofessional company ever, when trying to register as a real estate agent they seem to love wasting time and playing games.
I've been calling daily regarding the status of my application and every time I try and get transferred to the lady who's looking at my application they seem to not be “around at this time”
It has been nearly 2 months of just waiting and still no progress.
If you don't want to work and do your job then quit someone more qualified and professional will happily take over

2024 March: How RECO handles and investigates complaints was one of the issues highlighted in the auditor general's report.

In the past five years, RECO received approximately 11,700 complaints against real estate agents and brokers, it said, but Lysyk found that RECO has no system in place for identifying systemic trends and issues it should address.

The team working in the RECO office customer service are so helpful. I have had call for information, and assistance about Real Estate lic. laws, the staff is exceptional. They are very helpful. Gave me the exact answers I was hoping for. I think most reviews are about agents they do not have any influence over. Very unfair reviews. The people working in the office really are a great help, call with questions and you will get the help you need. Very Friendly! Very nice!
